As part of our successful 2017 bond campaign, we promised to make security upgrades to schools that are not being replaced or remodeled. We are happy to announce that work toward that goal is underway this summer.
Security upgrades planned for Washington, Oakview, and Edison include the addition of secure entry systems at each school. Once installed, all exterior doors will be locked during school hours. Visitors will be asked to use a doorbell type system to request permission to enter before staff members can unlock the door electronically. Staff members will gain entry using a secure badge system. The same system will also be installed at the new Fords Prairie and Jefferson Lincoln schools as well as at CHS.
The District is currently evaluating costs and proposals. Work on these security upgrades is planned to be completed this winter.
