The hydrotherapy spa at the Centralia Community Indoor Pool, commonly referred to as Thorbeckes Pool, has been closed until further notice. The closure is in response to a recommendation from the Department of Health that the spa be closed until corrective action can be taken on a number of safety concerns. Recent analysis conducted by firms hired by the Centralia School District revealed that the hot tub does not currently meet Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requirements.
We are currently working to determine what actions must be taken in order to bring the hot tub up to the necessary safety standards. Once those needs are fully identified, a cost analysis will be developed, and a plan for moving forward will be made by Thorbeckes, the City of Centraila, and the Centralia school District.
