Certificated Staff Evaluations
The Office of the Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction has determined the minimum criteria for the evaluation of certificated employees including teachers and administrators. In the Centralia School District, all staff members are evaluated annually.
Classroom teachers are evaluated in the following areas: instructional skills; classroom management; professional preparation and scholarship; effort toward improvement, when needed; handling student discipline and attendant problems; interest in teaching; and knowledge of subject matter.
It is the responsibility of the principals to evaluate all certificated staff in their schools. Each employee shall be observed at least once for a total time of 30 minutes during the first 90 calendar days of his/her employment with the district.
It is the responsibility of the district superintendent to evaluate all administrators. The evaluation shall include the following criteria: knowledge of, experience in and training for recognizing good professional performance; school administration and management of school finance; professional preparation and scholarship; effort toward improvement when needed; interest in students, employees, patrons, and the subjects being taught in school; leadership qualities; and performance in evaluation of school personnel.
