“How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because, someday in your life, you will have been all of these."
- George Washington CarverI am excited and passionate about high school counseling. I enjoy the high school atmosphere, dealing with social and emotional learning in our students, helping students achieve their dreams and goals, and working in the local community.
I have been counseling since 1992 and earned my Counseling Educational Staff Associates from St. Martin’s University. I became a National Board Certified Counselor in 2010. In the summer of 2013, I became involved in the Washington School Counseling Association Board, working with membership issues. In 2013, Centralia High School Counseling Department received a $3,000 OSPI competitive educational grant to enhance counseling services at CHS.
I like reading, digital photography, woodworking and construction, computer work, following the Huskies and travel. Some of my favorite local travel spots are Chelan, Camano Island, Spokane, and Bend, OR, but I can’t get enough Hawaiian fun and relaxation.
My two Centralia graduate daughters are using their education well, one as an early childhood education director in Spokane, and the other is a practicing physician in Seattle WA. I am thankful for my teaching colleagues throughout the profession who creatively gave time, energy, and care to my family.
I’ve made my home in Centralia since 1982 with my wife of three decades, Joni.
