Freshman Science is a survey course of major concepts of physical and Earth science.  The first semester focuses on matter, and basic chemistry. The major concepts of this semester are the following five:
Students should understand how energy inputs change particle behavior and properties of matter.
Students should understand the arrangement of the periodic table: reactivity, atomic number, electrons, mass.
Students should understand how changeing the number of portons, neutrons, electrons affects the atom, and
          therefore, matter.
Students should understand how energy inputs can re-arrange atoms by breaking or forming bonds.
Students should understand the Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy.
